How much does laptop ad space cost?
The median sticker spot sells for $246. Across 43 sales, 39 brands have paid $13,636 to the people carrying the machines. Every seller sets their own prices, so what follows is what the market has done, not a rate card.
By where the sticker sits
A lid is three rows. The top row is the biggest sticker and the one that faces a room; the middle row is the smallest. The gap between them is the single largest thing in the price.
| Row | Sold | Median | Middle half |
|---|---|---|---|
| Top | 8 | $742 | $670 – $807 |
| Middle | 27 | $205 | $29 – $246 |
| Bottom | 8 | $370 | $333 – $405 |
What moves the price
- The size of the sticker
- Three sizes on every lid, and the top row is several times the middle one. It is the biggest single factor.
- How long it stays on
- Sellers choose 3, 6, 12 or 24 months. 200 € for a quarter and 200 € for two years are different products, and the listing says which.
- Who is carrying the machine
- A laptop that is open in a room full of people who buy software is worth more than one that is not. Following is part of it, and where the machine goes is the other part.
- The centre spot
- On a Mac it covers the mark everyone already looks at, so it is priced by hand rather than by size. It is either the best square on the lid or one the seller would never sell.
- Whether the laptop is already bought
- Some listings fund a machine that does not exist yet. Those carry a goal and a date; a lid somebody already owns usually has neither.
What the platform charges
Nothing, to a brand. You pay the spot price and that is the whole of it — the payment is a Stripe charge on the seller’s own account, and Stripe routes a 10% commission out of it to us. Sellers pay $19 once to list a laptop.
Your card is authorised when you buy and charged only once the seller has approved your logo. If they decline, the hold is released: nothing was charged, so there is nothing to refund.
